Getting Married
What is the process involved to be legally married?
In summary your need to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM), prove your identity, show proof of previous marriages (if applicable) and lodge the NIM with your celebrant at least 1 month prior to your Ceremony.
The process is to preferably have an initial obligation free meeting (if that’s possible – depending on where you live) and begin the process of bringing your Ceremony together.
If you are overseas or interstate – no problem as through email, phone and Skype – everything can be organised remotely.
If you live within a distance where it is doable to travel to the Sunshine Coast, it is ideal to catch up and begin the planning.
At the first meeting you will need to allow approximately 1 1/2 hours for the completion of all legal documents required to register your marriage. We then begin the best part – planning exactly what you would love! At this meeting we get to know each other a little as well as I ensure that you feel relaxed and comfortable.
At this meeting I give you:
- A CD offering a comprehensive range of vows, readings and rituals to help you choose the ceremony that is right for you.
- A resource pack with lots of useful information and things to assist you in your planning.
You have the option to lodge the completed but not signed Notice of Intended Marriage with me (this needs to be lodged with your celebrant before 1 month prior to your wedding). Download the Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM) here
